Sponsorship

Students on workplace training

Whichever university students attend, the DTUS ensures that financial sponsorship is available to assist with fees and living expenses.

Each DTUS sponsored student is a member of their respective service reserve forces and holds the rank of Officer Cadet (Midshipman for Royal Navy sponsored students).

All students receive an annual technical bursary whilst also receiving training pay for the activities that they participate in. Those who complete a specified number of training days also receive a reserve forces bounty.

In return, students are expected to satisfy a training commitment of one evening per week during term time. Workplace experience and adventurous training activities are also arranged during holiday periods. Attendance for training equates to an average of 45 days each year receiving pay in addition to their £4000 annual technical bursary (The annual training pay received equates to approx £1700pa).

Students are also expected to remain physically fit and pass an annual fitness test, pass each academic year and serve for a minimum of 3 years in the Armed Forces or MOD Civil Service after graduation.
